Jackfruit

Jackfruit is the largest tree fruit on earth — one can outweigh a bowling ball and then some. Its yellow pods smell of bubblegum, and its seeds roast like chestnuts.

Arriving from South Asia, it grew wherever the rain did, and old island roads still run beneath its long green sculptures.
