Mangosteen

Mangosteen

Mangosteen wears a leathery purple shell that stains like wine, and inside is snow-white flesh that tastes like peach touched with cream. In Southeast Asia it is called the queen of fruits.

It is famously difficult to grow and slow to fruit — which is why the few Hawaiʻi trees that succeed are watched like small treasures.
