Jaboticaba
Jaboticaba breaks every rule of fruiting: the grapes grow straight out of the tree's bark, dark and glossy against pale trunk wood.
It came from Brazil and grows slowly in Hawaiʻi's gardens — the kind of tree children climb and adults guard, picking the berries straight from the bark.
