Nohu in the Shadows
Nohu — the Hawaiian green lionfish, found nowhere else on Earth
On a ledge of dark lava, a nohu spreads its feathery fins — russet, cream, and olive, every spine delicate as a fern. A single shaft of sunlight finds it in the shadows.
The Hawaiian green lionfish lives only in these islands. Beautiful and venomous both, it rests through the day and hunts at night, a patient spirit of the reef's darker corners.
