Kala in the Sunshaft

A kala glides into a falling column of light, its steel-blue body lighting up like polished silver. The graceful horn above its forehead and the bright orange spine at its tail catch the sun in turn as it turns slowly toward the camera.

Unicornfish graze the reef's drifting algae with patient, unhurried bites. In the clear water, this gentle wanderer seems less like a fish and more like a quiet spirit wearing a crown of light.
