Potter's Painted Angel
A Potter's angelfish crosses the sunbeam like a small ember — bright orange drawn over with fine blue scribbles, as if the reef had taken a pen to it line by line.
This little angelfish is found only in Hawaiʻi, named for Frederick Potter of the old Waikīkī Aquarium. It spends its days picking delicately at the coral, a jewel that belongs to these islands alone.
