“The wooden car”

The woodie became the surf car for practical reasons: it was long enough for boards, cheap secondhand, and nobody minded a little sand in it. Wood paneling meant constant varnishing, which is why the ones still running are loved rather than owned.

Parked nose to the water with two longboards strapped on, it says the whole day out loud. Nothing here needs to happen at a particular hour.
