“Sacred, of Sāmoa”

Hāmoa means “sacred, of Sāmoa,” and the cove's steep jungle walls and gray-gold sand have long drawn comparisons to Polynesia further south. Mark Twain called this stretch of coast the most beautiful he had seen anywhere in the Pacific.
