Flame Wrasse Sunrise

The flame wrasse is found only around the Hawaiian Islands and Johnston Atoll. Adult males carry a fiery blend of red, orange, yellow, and violet that looks illuminated from within.

Like many wrasses, individuals can change sex as their social group changes. On the reef, color and identity can both be wonderfully fluid.
