The Masked Original

The bandit angelfish is a Hawaiian original, found nowhere else except nearby Johnston Atoll. Its bold black eye stripe makes it look masked for an underwater ball.

It favors deep, rocky reefs and uses a brushlike mouth to graze sponges. Its simple black-and-white pattern stands out in a neighborhood filled with every color.
