Yellow Tang
Lauʻīpala — “yellowed ti leaf”
Lauʻīpala means “yellowed ti leaf,” which is exactly what a yellow tang looks like drifting over coral. They graze algae all day long, keeping the reef from being smothered, and at night their brilliant yellow fades to a dull grey with a pale stripe so predators pass them by.
