Moʻo on the Leaves
Moʻo — lizard, gecko, and storied guardian
Gold-dust day geckos look like little pieces of living jewelry, all lime green skin, coral freckles and quick bright eyes. After rain they come out onto broad leaves to hunt gnats and taste nectar from the garden.
Moʻo can mean lizard, but in Hawaiian stories moʻo are also powerful water guardians tied to pools, streams and hidden places. These two are small and cheerful, yet they still feel like keepers of the leaf-world after a shower.
