Kihikihi Banners
Kihikihi — the Moorish idol, striped like a flowing banner
The kihikihi arrive like a procession of banners — bold bands of black, white, and yellow, each fish trailing its long streamer fin behind it as it threads the sunbeams over the reef.
They travel in loose family groups, picking delicately at the coral as they go. No net could hold a procession this beautiful; the banners simply flow on toward the next garden of light.
