ʻIʻiwi
ʻIʻiwi — the scarlet honeycreeper
The ʻiʻiwi's long curved bill grew to match the curve of a lehua blossom, which is a kind of promise the bird and the tree made to each other a very long time ago. Its feathers were once treasured for royal capes, gathered and the bird released.
