Pulelehua Morning

A flower garden changes when the pulelehua arrive. Hibiscus, plumeria and orchids are beautiful standing still, but butterflies make the air itself bloom, crossing sunbeams in orange, blue and black.

Their wings look delicate because they are, yet they know exactly where the nectar is and how to ride a breeze. For a moment the garden becomes less like a place and more like a dance.
