Porch-Step Pōpoki

Morning light reaches one porch step before all the others, and the tabby knows its schedule exactly. The cat folds into a striped circle between the ti pot and falling plumeria blossoms.

Jalousie windows click open behind it and the house begins its day. The pōpoki does not move; supervising from a patch of sun is already a full morning's work.
