Kukui
Used for: dry skin and hair, mouth sores, cuts, and gentle cleansing. The state tree of Hawaii, and a symbol of light and protection.
How to use: the pressed nut oil is warmed between the palms and smoothed over sunburn, chapped skin, or hair ends. Roasted, mashed nut meat mixed with a little salt was a traditional relish and a mouth-sore remedy. Sap from the bark was dabbed on small cuts.
