Kāheka Full of Life

Kāheka Full of Life

Kāheka — a tide pool where the reef gathers in miniature

Morning light reaches into a clear kāheka carved among black lava rocks. Anemones open like flowers, hermit crabs cross the shallows, tiny reef fish flash between urchins, and smooth pieces of sea glass glow beneath the ripples.

Along the wet stone, ʻopihi hold fast where ocean and island meet. This little pool is not empty space left by the tide — it is a whole neighborhood, busy and brilliant between waves.
