Plumeria Lei

Plumeria Lei

“Lei melia” — a lei of welcome

Plumeria came to Hawaiʻi in the 1860s and quickly became the islands' most familiar lei flower — easy to string, sweetly fragrant, and blooming almost year-round. A lei is given, never bought for oneself, and traditionally accepted with a kiss on the cheek.
