Pass the Fruit
Dinner has reached the hour when plates are mostly empty but nobody stands up. A bowl of pineapple and papaya keeps circling while lanterns warm the wood and geckos wait near the light for moths.
The lānai makes room for supper to become story. Hands pass food across the table, the breeze lifts the napkins, and leaving can wait until every tale has found its ending.
