Waʻa kaulua — double-hulled voyaging canoe
Long before modern instruments, Polynesian navigators crossed the Pacific in waʻa kaulua by reading stars, swells, winds, clouds and the flight of birds. The two hulls carried people, plants, water and everything needed to begin life on distant islands.
Today's voyaging canoes are classrooms under sail. Each crossing renews language, skill and responsibility to the ocean, proving that ancestral knowledge is not a relic but a way forward.
