Lavender
An introduced upland garden flower
Violet lavender thrives in Hawaiʻi's sunny uplands, where cool air moves through silver-green leaves. It is a garden introduction rather than a traditional Hawaiian lāʻau lapaʻau plant.
Simple recipe: steep a small pinch of culinary lavender buds in hot water for several minutes, strain well, and sweeten with honey. Use only food-grade lavender, as a little goes a long way.
