'Ilima
Used for: gentle relief of constipation — including for babies — mouth sores, and asthma-tight breathing. The flower of O'ahu, and the lei of ali'i.
How to use: the fresh flowers are chewed, or a handful is steeped into a mild yellow tea. Traditionally a few blossoms were given to a fussy infant as the gentlest possible remedy. The sap of the buds was used on sore gums.
