Pink Trumpet
Tabebuia — a cloud of soft pink trumpets
Pink trumpet trees spend part of the year bare and sleepy, then suddenly cover every branch with dense clusters of soft pink, trumpet-shaped flowers. It looks like the tree has been wrapped in tissue paper.
They are not native to Hawaiʻi, but they thrive in the warm climate and have become a familiar sight along roadsides and in botanical gardens. The bloom is brief, and when the petals fall the ground beneath turns pink for a few days.
The contrast between the dark branches and the bright flowers is what makes this puzzle satisfying. It is a study in patience, then explosion, then quiet again.
