Ilima Lei
“ʻIlima” — the royal flower of Oʻahu
ʻIlima is the flower of Oʻahu and was once reserved for aliʻi, Hawaiian royalty. Because the papery blossoms are tiny, it can take five hundred to a thousand flowers to make one lei — which is why it is sometimes called the royal lei.
