First Journey

Hawaiian honu hatchlings emerge at night and scramble for the water by the light of the horizon, using the earth's magnetic field to map a journey that will last decades. Most of Hawaiʻi's turtles nest far northwest, in the remote atolls of Papahānaumokuākea.
