Maile Lei

“Maile” — sacred green vine of Laka

Maile is the most sacred lei of all — a fragrant forest vine gathered from the mountains, stripped and worn open-ended rather than closed. It is dedicated to Laka, goddess of hula, and is the lei of choice for weddings and ceremonial blessings.
