“Pīkake” — peacock, Princess Kaʻiulani’s jasmine

Pīkake means peacock. Princess Kaʻiulani loved both the birds and this small Arabian jasmine, so the flower took the bird's name. Its perfume is strongest after dark, which is why pīkake lei are favored for evenings and weddings.
