Kokiʻo ʻUla i ka Nahele
“Red hibiscus in the forest”
Deep in the rainforest, where tree ferns lean over the trail and the light comes down in soft green shafts, the kokiʻo opens wide and red. Rain still beads on the petals. Nobody planted it here, and nobody needs to see it for it to bloom.
