Inside the Splash

A bodyboard turns even a small shore break into an adventure. With the rider low against the water, the wave lifts the board, curls around one shoulder and bursts into a wall of shining spray.

For one fast second there is almost no person to see — only hands holding on, the blue edge of the board and the joyful idea of somebody carried forward by the ocean.
