Lānai — a roofed open porch
The plantation porch was designed around moving air. Jalousie windows opened wide, deep eaves made shade, and the lānai became the room where damp towels dried, neighbors visited and the day cooled down.
A shell chime clicks softly when the trades come through. The rocking chairs never need to face each other; both point toward the blue glimpse beyond the railing, where conversation can take its time.
