Pōhuehue

The pink trumpet vine of the sand

Used for: in lāʻau lapaʻau, pōhuehue was pounded and applied to bruises, sprains and sore joints, and was used to help clear the body when it felt heavy.

How to use: warm a few crushed clean leaves and lay them over a bruise or sore knee as a gentle poultice for twenty minutes. Do not drink it — internal use was strong medicine and only for practitioners.
