Papaya

Papaya arrived in Hawaii around 1800 by way of the Marquesas and Mexico. The famous Solo strain was refined on Oahu in the early 1900s and became the small, sweet 'Hawaiian papaya' the world knows.

Breakfast custom is simple and old: half a papaya, seeds scooped, lime squeezed over the top.
