Mokulēʻia Bay

“Isle of abundance”

Locals still call it Slaughterhouse Beach, after a slaughterhouse that once stood on the cliff above. The Hawaiian name, Mokulēʻia, speaks instead of abundance.

A long staircase winds down the cliff to a small cove inside the Honolua marine reserve, where the water is bright and clear.
