Manini — convict tang, striped grazer of the shallows

A dense school of manini sweeps through the shallows like one long wave. Sunlight dances over their black-and-white bars, making each turn ripple from fish to fish across the reef.

They move together toward fresh grazing grounds, quick and purposeful above the coral. Then the living wave bends around a rock and disappears into brightness.
