Cathedral of Light

Kai — the sea

Sunbeams reach the reef because clear ocean water scatters very little light, and the shafts you see are that light catching plankton and fine sand suspended in the water. Coral itself is an animal farming sunlight — algae living inside its tissue feed it, which is why the loveliest reefs grow where the light comes down like this.
