“Trigger fish with a snout like a pig”

Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa — “trigger fish with a snout like a pig” — is Hawaiʻi's state fish, named for the grunting sound it makes when caught. It wedges itself into a crevice and locks a spine on its back like a trigger, so nothing can pull it out.
